Next Stop: Georgia Southern University

Some news I've been sitting on, I'm officially part of the 2026–2027 MROC2S cohort at Georgia Southern University, funded by the NSF's Research and Mentoring for Postbaccalaureates (RaMP) program!

For the next year I'll be in Statesboro, GA, working in Dr. John Carroll's CRABEY Lab on benthic ecology.

I find it hard to fully believe this opportunity. Receiving a full year dedicated to conducting research in the field, analyzing data, and collaborating with experts who possess far greater knowledge than I do is precisely the step I have been aspiring to take.

I'll also be applying to grad programs this year, so it's going to be a busy one. But that's part of why I'm so excited about this program specifically. Being in a cohort means going through this process next to other people doing the exact same thing, with mentors who have already been there and want to see us get through it. I'm very excited for this kind of support all in one place, and I think it's going to make all the difference.
